Pilot Project: Premier League tests return to stands
In the Premier League, there is a return to standing places in the football stages. For a corresponding pilot project, which is to be started at the beginning of 2022 and limited for the time being six months, interested clubs can apply until 6 October.
In response to the Hillsborough catastrophe, in which in the course of a mass panic 97 supporters of the FC Liverpool came around, in 1994 all standing places were banned in the arenas.
We want to work together with fans and clubs and provide secure standing places, said British Sports Minister Nigel Huddlestone. The Sports Ground Safety Authority (SGSA) will accompany the project and evaluate it.

In the fans scene the plan was welcomed. This could end our campaign for safe standing places in the stadiums after more than 30 years. It is a long tradition that fans can choose between seating and standing places. The atmosphere will also improve , it said in an official explanation The Football Supporters Association (FSA).
