Kaiserslautern separates from Antwerp

Marco Antwerp is no longer coach of 1. FC Kaiserslautern. The 50-year-old, who took over the FCK in February 2021 and led to third place in League Three this season, was released from his duties on Tuesday evening. His assistant Frank Döpper also has to go. The FCK officially announced the separation in the late Tuesday afternoon.

Antwerpen's successor becomes Dirk Schuster. The 54-year-old last worked for Erzgebirge Aue until May 2021. The ex-professional had previously worked at FC Augsburg, Darmstadt 98 and the Stuttgart seasons. With the lilies he made the march from the 3rd league to the upper house. Born in Chemnitzer, he will work on Wednesday and bring Sascha Franz as an assistant. The FCK did not announce how long Schuster's contract runs.

Schuster's task is clearly formulated: he should lead the red devil through the relegation into the 2nd league. For this he now has ten days of preparation, on May 20 the first leg will take place in Kaiserslautern.
