The reason for the absence of Troy Baker in Borderlands 3 revealed
Borderlands 3 came out earlier this month and we saw almost all our favorite characters come back, but they are not all like we remember. Tiny Tina is very big, but sounds like never with Ashly Burch's vocal talents. Claptrap and Rhys have also returned, but with different actors. Between the exclusive contract with Epic Games and the presumed assault of David Eddings by Randy Pitchford; We know that there has been a lot of drama around Gearbox and the release of the game, but we now understand a little better why exactly Troy Baker, the voice of Rhys in Tales from the Borderlands, did not come back for Borderlands 3 .
Baker is a prolific voice actor, as you surely know. Gearbox would crazy not try to recruit him to resume his role, what they did, but he still has not returned. The GEARBOX CEO, Randy Pitchford, said Baker had refused the role and now we know why. In an interview with VG247, Troy Baker said he had been invited to come back for Borderlands 3 and he said yes. Unfortunately, it was a non-unionized job, which was against the requirements of Baker. It was just a matter not to become unionized, and I can not do an unionized concert, Baker said at VG247.
He said it had nothing to do with conflicts of money or schedule, but simply that he was unable to play this role because of the way Gearbox took care of it. Sometimes the rules keep us safe and protected, and sometimes they prevent us from doing what we do most, namely Troy Baker, who makes every voice in every game. Borderlands 3 is available for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
