New World Source Guard Guide: Everything you need to know to do the boss

Players use tricks to defeat the source guard also solo

How does this trick? Melee monster in New World are always looking for body contact with the player he wants to attack. Accordingly, the source guard is always looking for the (shortest) way to you.

At the beginning of the entrance there are 2 rocks that you can climb up without effort. Through the high altitude difference, the boss starts running to a long bow to get to the new position. If you jump down now, he starts to run away from the long way.

So you can therefore take the boss without causing damage, as long as you run back and forth and harm him over time. But you need a little patience and stamina, as the boss has a lot of LP.

The trick was refined over time : Players have even found out that the left rock has a spot at the entrance, which the source guard can not reach, but the aggro is not losing and his LP reset. Thus, you can easily add damage from this point from the boss with a ranged weapon without hurting yourself.

How does Amazon react to this strategy at the moment? At the moment (as of November 2021) there was no official statement from the developers to this tactic. There are different opinions ranging from bug abusing, i.e. the conscious exploitation of errors, to legitimate strategy.

Proponents argue that the source guard may have too many mistakes anyway and self-defeated groups of 5 to 8 players from the boss. In addition, such a monster outside an expedition is far too strong, so the frustration is too big and unconventional tricks are used with pleasures.
